Brawler’s Birthday Bash: It’s my Party and I’ll make you cry if I want to

Tiger Bay Brawlers celebrate their first birthday this month.

Known to be quite fond of partying we threw a pirates vs. princesses themed bout consisting of two evenly matched teams of Brawlers and guest skaters from Lincolnshire Bombers, London Roller Girls, Cardiff Roller Collective, Swansea City Slayers and Bridgend Bombshells.

I captained the pirates.

Pirates 95. Princesses 96.

Juicy.

Little Sacrifices

So I decided to skip training last night to spend some time with my dad, he’s visiting for one week only so I felt it was more important to squeeze out all the father-daughter time going.

Apparently there was jumping the apex and crying tonight so, although I need to work on the former, I think I chose wisely.

I ate a large pizza and desert all to myself in Pizza Express, we watched your highness and walked about 5 miles. Times were good.

I also had a dream that a girl from Rocky Mountain broke herself so they had to stay for an extra week after the bootcamp, selfishly awesome.

Sock it to me

I have a one of those hobo holes in my new socks, it’s very upsetting. They’re not that new but they’re special occasion socks.

I went to the (replacement) doctor this morning, spent about 5 minutes explaining that I play roller derby, what it is and how I could’ve injured my knee. After he examined it he said “so you fell at home or it just happened?” I played dumb. He’s given me strong pain killers and some gel to rub into it. He hasn’t told me not to skate but I guess that would be twisting his words as he ignored the fact I do any kind of sport. I will be smart.

I finally ordered my first graze box. I stole Kath’s once and it was super yummy. http://www.graze.com/p/34BLNBY with the code 34BLNBY if you want to get a free one too.

BYE!

My sprained knee is much worse. Boo for falling over and boo for injuries. I will not skate until the Blood and Thunder bootcamp 28-30th May. This is sad but I will turn my attention to other aspects of roller derby until then.

Baker’s Cyst

That’s my knee injury. Caused by trauma. Xray this week. doctor’s again next week. referral to an ultrasound and if the doctor is right, surgery. The doctor was really nice and took it very seriously when i mentioned I was trying out for the world cup’s team France.

This is seriously lame though.

Kneews

So the Xray came back negative which is what the doctor said would happen so she’s referred me to have an MRI which will take about 4 weeks. She suggested I see a private consultant to speed things along so I’m back healthy by the time team France tryouts happen.

But…

I’m going to skate at blood and thunder this weekend anyway, I’ve given it plenty of rest and I’m away for a week after that so the way I see it is if it gets worse from skating, i’m just going to be resting it then getting it seen to. It might even help the doctor if it’s a bit worse because it’ll be more obvious. So if anything, it’ll be more helpful.

Team France!

THIS IS HAPPENING!

Team France Tryouts are on 16th July from 2-8pm in Nantes.

This is a 10 hour drive away but totally worth it.

Pete will be reffing the mixed scrimmage at the end.

Amelia Scareheart is a babe.

I hope I get in.
